Evaluating
Effectiveness Project
Since the inception of the Professional
Effectiveness Program, it has been a goal to develop a method and process
for evaluating the effectiveness of PEP training addressing the levels
3 and 4 from Kirkpatrick's Model.
To address these advanced levels of effectiveness,
PEP has designed a post-training evaluation tool which is sent to participants
following the completion of PEP training, asking if PEP skills have
been applied in the workplace and if so, what impact has occurred.
Of the workshop attendees responding to
our evaluations 92% report that PEP has helped them achieve positive
results on the job in at least one of the following areas: improving
communication with co-workers, increasing productivity, increasing job
satisfaction and/or resolving a workplace conflict; and nearly half
report that they've achieved positive results in all four areas.

| This is not the
first time staff who have participated in the PEP program have had positive
things to say about the workshops and what they learned. What is special
about the recent feedback I received from one of our staff members,
was how helpful the communication tools he learned in the PEP program
are in helping him deal with a particularly difficult personnel issue.
These skills have helped him frame the issues and his expectations in
an objective manner and improved communications with the employee. Thanks
for a great training program!" |

| For some reason, this last week
has presented me with many opportunities to start (and receive) 'difficult
conversations.' Thanks to your tools, I felt comfortable and
confident participating in these discussions. Also, I've learned
to listen better by applying the 'tell me more' techniquewhich
helped out enormously when emotions were running high. I've
already recommended your class to two of my colleagues. Thanks again
for the great class. |

| Stanford Training & Organizational
Development Department has continued to offer NOVA PEP's Communicating
in the Workplace class because of the course design. The 3-part
weekly sessions allow participants to build on the skills they are
learning, offer an opportunity to apply the skills learned in the
classroom, and allow students to come back and ask questions about
what they're been applying in their workplace. I think this
model increases the effectiveness of the training. |

| The courses I took from you all
are paying off dividendsthere seem to be plenty of opportunities
to use managing 'difficult' people, team building and problem solving
skillsenough that I'm getting a bit of a reputation for getting
people to work together. |

| I cannot say enough about the PEP
program. I feel that the PEP Assessment is one of the best assessment
tools that I have been involved with. The individual feedback session
with the counselor was affirming as we discussed my strengths and
was helpful in showing some practical ways to address my blind spots.
. .The instructors make the practices and skills look easy and fun,
which encourages class participation. The 'soft' skills taught are
invaluable in today's workforce, and are what make organizations successful. |

| After many years of seminars and
extensive training programs (including both individual and group counseling
courses) I found the PEP workshops most useful in all relationships,
not just those encountered in the workplace. I attribute this effectiveness
to two key elements: the principles are practical and experience-based,
and are presented by enthusiastic and articulate instructors. |
